Daring colored papers and envelopes are a trend we’re seeing more and more of, prompting us to introduce our three new offerings: Bella Blue – a rich, luxurious navy; Bella Black – a true, dark black; and Bella Gray – a smoky, charcoal gray. All three papers are available in our three paper plys as well as select envelope sizes. These papers are stunning when paired with foil stamping, as seen on Garnet, Nightfall, and Estate.
Our friends at Union Street Papery helped Jeanne and Beau select black envelopes for their invitation suite, and then provided them to us for printing. They also supplied the hand calligraphy that we then added to this #10 layout, along with a handdrawn border for a super sleek, modern look.

With all of the different elements to consider when ordering your wedding invitations, envelope choices can wind up being somewhat of an afterthought. After all, they’re just going to be ripped open and thrown away anyway, right? Well, yes – but that doesn’t mean that they’re not important. They are the first things your guests will see when the invitation set arrives in the mail, after all.
The old standby for envelopes is to have them match the invitations – our standard envelopes are made from a text-weight version of the same cotton paper we print our letterpress invitations on – so the paper and envelopes will be a perfect match. If you’re looking for simplicity and complete uniformity throughout your set, this is definitely the way to go. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with white or ivory envelopes, by the way! They’re elegant and are designed to coordinate perfectly with your invites.
That being said, sometimes you don’t necessarily want everything to perfectly match your invitations – sometimes you want the envelopes to have a little pizazz of their own. And that’s where colored envelopes can fit the bill nicely.
New for 2012, we now offer several different colored envelope options (available in select sizes only for now): bullion, silver, jute, steel blue, and opal. Perhaps you want to add a touch of metallic to your invites (but you don’t want the invitation itself to be foil stamped)? A silver or bullion envelope would be a great option! Looking to add a crafty, hand-made sort of vibe to your invites? Try our jute envelopes! Planning lots of pearlescent touches for the wedding? Think opal envelopes!
Oh, and the best part? Our colored envelopes are priced exactly the same as our white and ivory envelopes, so they’re definitely more budget-friendly than some other color-adding embellishment options such as pocketfolds or envelope liners. Not that these colored envelopes don’t look awesome with liners too – because they definitely do! We especially love the look of a metallic envelope paired a metallic envelope liner – think metallic bronze envelope liners paired with opal envelopes — it’s a stunning combination!

We worked with our friends at Alligator Soup to create Katerina and Alexander’s save the dates. Our embossed Dendria crest features prominently on the card. Detail text is letterpressed in chambray ink. The Emmerich liner in chambray with white motifs is the perfect compliment to create a stunning save the date.

Mallory and Spencer worked with our friends at Salutations Home to create their gorgeous wedding stationery. We reimagined our Willington sample suite in luscious blues and greens. The save the date card was printed with subtle french blue letterpress. The blue touches are echoed in the ribbon and outer invitation envelopes. We created a customized version of our Willington liner florals to pair perfectly with the rest of the suite.

We worked with our friends at Arnie Paperie to create Emilia and John’s gorgeous wedding invitations. Our Deveril v.2 sample inspired the layout. We used a script font, and updated the colors to holly and rosebud. The colors are perfectly complimented by our vintage rose pattern liner, with a rosebud background.

Sarah and Jacob worked with our friends at The Social Type to create their wedding invitation suite. Our Alder suite was the inspiration, customized with ivory, nutmeg and chambray. A previous blog post inspired the weekend events card- Dolyn and Zach used such a perfect information card layout for a wedding weekend! The chambray envelopes and drift liner in nutmeg were the perfect compliment to the suite.
We worked with our friends at Oliver’s Twist to bring this beautiful floral invitation suite to life. Our Burklyn sample was the starting point, and was personalized with several updates. Calligraphy by Virginia Lucas Hart makes the invitation card sing, and a calligraphed reply address adds extra whimsy. Holly envelopes are the perfect backdrop to the beautiful Burklyn floral liner and enclosure cards. The gold shine beveled edge was the perfect way to add a touch of shine.

We worked with our friends at Paper Twist to create these lovely invitations. Gold matte foil stamping on white and black stock sets the tone for the events perfectly. A vellum host card with black digital writing overlays the larger invitation. Both envelopes are lined with the hector patten in gold matte.

We worked with our friends at Write Occasion to bring Eliana’s woodland themed Mitzvah invitations to life. We created a two color invitation border using the botanical pattern from our Augusta sample. The woodland theme was continued on the details card via debossed woodgrain pattern. The woodgrain appears again on the foil stamped liner. Jute paper accents are the perfect touch to add color variety while true to the theme.
We worked with our friends at Shindig Paperie in Fayetteville, Arkansas to bring Marissa and Brant’s invitations to life. Our Euphrasia suite is the inspiration, updated with cedar shine foil stamping, and blind embossing. Striking blue envelopes with a foil stamped metallic liner are the perfect backdrop to highlight the subtle sophistication of the cards.

Supplied pistachio envelopes are the perfect compliment to the custom color letterpress accents and edge painting. The suite has a timeless elegance, while the pops of light green keep it current.
