Our Environmental Causes

We’re a member of Co-op America Green Business Network, an organization of truly green businesses.

We practice environmental printing techniques; we believe in eco letterpress; and we embrace progressive green business practices (read more about our green print shop).

More about the environmental organizations we support.

Earthworks works to protect communities and the environment from the destructive impacts of mineral development. They’ve won every community-based campaign in which they have participated, such as protecting Yellowstone National Park from the proposed New World gold mine, protecting 400,000 acres of the scenic Rocky Mountain Front, and helping to defend Argentina’s pristine Patagonia region from another proposed open-pit gold mine. We were excited to see EARTHWORKS doing important work to save Bella Figura’s own backyard (protecting the Marcellus Shale, a natural gas reserve which runs through the gorgeous Finger Lakes region of New York, and whose gas extraction could seriously threaten our watershed). And with their No Dirty Gold campaign, Earthworks is successfully changing the gold mining industry’s destructive mining practices.

Conservation Fund: The Conservation Fund has conserved 6 million acres+ since their inception, from the Gates of the Arctic National Park to the Gray Reef reach on the North Platte to the Glatfelter Forests straddling the Delaware and Chesapeake bays. Their goal: to protect the best of America’s wild havens, working lands and vibrant communities. They also happen to be the nation’s most efficient and effective conservation organization. The American Institute of Philanthropy gave The Conservation Fund its top “A+” ranking, and Charity Navigator gave the Fund its exceptional “four-star” rating. One of our favorite conservation projects that they’ve done: the Fund and its partners protected 257,000 acres of forestland in the Adirondack park in one of the largest land conservation projects in New York state history. Go Adirondacks!

Onondaga Earth Corps: Since its inception in 2004, the mission of the OEC has been to empower youth to be active participants in creating positive change in their communities and for the environment. The OEC was formed to help youth understand the relationship between people and the urban ecosystem, engage youth in hands-on community and environmental service learning projects, train youth for future jobs and careers in environmental fields, and empower youth by developing their leadership abilities that help them analyze situations, solve problems, and implement strategies to improve their communities.

American Forests: American Forests’ vision is to have healthy forest ecosystems for every community. Formed in 1875, American Forests has since planted well over 45 million trees throughout the United States and worldwide. Go trees! To reduce rising global temperatures, this organization has the ambitious goal of planting 100 million trees by 2020. The trees that American Forests plants are native species only. They plant both seedlings and saplings, never seeds. These trees will help create cleaner air, cleaner water, sequester carbon, and provide wildlife refuge. Over its lifetime, each new tree planted will absorb roughly 740 pounds of carbon dioxide.
